A masochistic cop (Maura Tierney), who hides her predilection from her cop husband (Terry Kinney), gets involved in pursuing a kidnapper nicknamed Harry for Harry Houdini (Adrien Brody), who has kidnapped a in the chips woman (Laila Robins) and has buried her somewhere in Manhattan while exacting a ransom from her tycoon husband (James Naughton). Failure to pay the release within 24 hours will lead the kidnapper to abandoning the lady. Dylan Baker also appears as the fed that is assigned to the case. |

In old Egypt, high priest Imhotep started a forbidden relationship with Anck Su Namun, Pharaoh Seti’s Odalisque. When Seti finds out about what’s going on, Imhotep and his loved one jab him, but can’t escape the trustworthy guards: Anck Su Namnun chooses to commit suicide while Imhotep is bestowed with the Hom-Dai, the most feared torment of all: He is mummified alive in Hamunaptra, the city of the Dead. More than thirty-six centuries later, in 1923, to be exacting, adventurer Rick leads Egyptologist Evelyn and her brother Johnathan to furtive Hamunaptra. Connie, an aging Free photographer, meets mousy Harper, headed for Harvard Law from a high-powered San Francisco family, and immediately sees her loveliness. He also guesses she has talent and invites her to be his pupil and share his bed. He’s Alfred Stieglitz, she’s Georgia O’Keefe, and he calls her his Guinevere. When she realizes she’s the latest Guinevere in a line of ingenues, she bolts, only to return, sick of her family. She’s blossoming, reading, information, but hasn’t yet taken her first photograph when he tells her they’re going to L.A., penniless, him drinking too much, to sell some photographs. On the trip, she finally snaps the shutter; so does her awe and dependence. |
